By Air
Both of Australia's major domestic airlines, Qantas and Virgin Blue, operate multiple daily flights to Adelaide from Melbourne and Sydney. Jetstar operates flights from Melbourne (Avalon), Hobart and the Gold Coast.
Daily flights also operate to Adelaide from Brisbane (in Queensland), Darwin and Alice Springs (in the Northern Territory), and from Perth (in Western Australia). Other Australian domestic airlines service Adelaide from selected interstate cities.

By Rail
The Indian Pacific spans Australia from Sydney to Perth via Adelaide, and is a great way to get to South Australia from Sydney. The journey from Sydney to Adelaide takes 24 hours via the Blue Mountains, the famous outback city of Broken Hill and the beautiful mid-north of South Australia.
The Overland runs between Melbourne and Adelaide, and is an 11 hour journey through the rolling countryside of rural Victoria and South Australia. The Melbourne to Adelaide service is overnight, while the Adelaide to Melbourne service operates during the day.
The Ghan now continues on from Adelaide and Alice Springs to Darwin. This 47hr, 2979km transcontinental journey takes you through the heart of Australia and features off train touring options at Alice Springs and Katherine Gorge.
Adelaide's country and interstate rail terminal is located at Keswick, two kilometres west of the city centre. Local taxis and mini bus services are available to meet every train.

A great way to get to South Australia is by driving from your arrival point which allows you the freedom and flexibility to explore this part of Australia at your own pace.
