Chengdu had been approved to be the national demonstration zone of modern agriculture of the first batch, becoming the only deputy-provincial city to wholly push the creation work among the first batch modern agricultural demonstration zones across the country, learnt the journalist on August 13th from the Municipal Government’s Information Office. It is learnt that the Chengdu demonstration zone will strive to become the production demonstration base of the “vegetable basket” products of large and medium-sized cities.

Railway transport key materials industrial base settled in Xinjin 
The Southwest Jiaotong University has signed with Xinjin a cooperative agreement on the “joint promotion of the “project of the industrial development strategy and industrialization of railway transport materials”, the good news spread on July 22nd from Xijin. The Southwest Jiaotong University will join forces with Xinjin County to build the western largest and domestically most competitive industrial base for railway transport key materials.

Australian union bans workers from uranium mines for health concern PDF Print E-mail
The Electrical Trades Union (ETU) in the Australian states of Queensland and the Northern Territory has banned its members from working on uranium mines or within the nuclear energy industry.

ETU Secretary Peter Simpson said on Tuesday that corporate interests and political leaders are trying to bribe workers with the promise of high wages while denying the health risks of uranium mining.

Australia's trade surplus due to strong prices PDF Print E-mail
Australia's first trade surplus in 13 months reflects the strong prices being paid for coal and iron ore, Trade Minister Simon Crean said on Thursday.

"It reflects the very strong effect from resource exports and in turn that reflects the very high prices that are being paid for those," Crean told reporters in Canberra.
